24-26 February 2017Bangkok, ThailandThe Academic Research Training on Human Rights and Peace for Research Grants Programme 2017 covered a wide range of modules in pursuit of strengthening skills and knowledge of RGP 2017 grantees on human rights and peace research. 18 lead researchers, who came from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, underwent an intensive programme which included rights-based methodologies, research analytical frameworks (Feminist, Critical Legal Theories and Action Research), programme management, finance management and policy brief development.Participants also got the chance to meet and consult with their respective mentors, who were invited by SHAPE-SEA to guide them throughout their research project. The training ended with the submission of final narrative and budget and signing of contracts.Outcomes:
- 18 researchers from Southeast Asia were able to increase their research capacities on human rights and/or peace
- 18 researchers underwent mentorship from academics working on human rights and/or peace
